Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards in a shoe. Cards below a value of 10 are valued at their printed value while at the same time ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each equal to 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual persons; they strictly act as the 2 hands to be given out).

Two hands of 2 cards shall then be dealt to the ‘banker’ as well as ‘player’. The total for every hand will be the grand total of the two cards, but the very first digit is discarded. For e.g., a hand of seven as well as 5 results in a tally of two (7plus5=twelve; drop the ‘one’).

A 3rd card may be given depending on the following guidelines:

- If the gambler or banker has a score of 8 or 9, then both gamblers stand.

- If the bettor has 5 or less, he hits. bettors stand otherwise.

- If player stands, the banker hits of 5 or less. If the player hits, a chart will be used in order to figure if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The larger of the two scores wins. Winning bets on the banker pay out 19 to 20 (even odds minus a five % commission. Commission is kept track of and paid out when you leave the table so be sure to have money left over before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay 1 to one. Winner bets for tie typically pay out 8 to one but occasionally 9 to 1. (This is a terrible wager as ties will occur lower than 1 every ten hands. Run away from putting money on a tie. Still, odds are somewhat better – nine to 1 vs. eight to one)

When played correctly, baccarat presents generally good odds, apart from the tie wager of course.

Baccarat Strategy

As with every games, Baccarat has some established myths. 1 of which is close to a roulette misconception. The past is in no way a predictor of future results. Staying abreast of past outcomes on a chart is undoubtedly a waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most established and probably most successful technique is the one-3-2-six concept. This scheme is used to increase payout and minimizing risk.

start by gambling 1 unit. If you win, add one more to the 2 on the table for a total of 3 on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, clear away 4 so you have two on the 3rd bet. If you win the 3rd wager, add 2 to the 4 on the table for a sum of six on the 4th bet.

If you don’t win on the first wager, you take a loss of 1. A win on the first bet followed by loss on the 2nd will create a loss of 2. Wins on the first 2 with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the 4th mean you breakeven. Arriving at a win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of ten. Thus that you can get beaten the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
